Workers' Compensation and Social Security Disability are both very cyclical and politically sensitive legal systems -- there are times when benefits are liberally awarded and other times when benefits are difficult to obtain and not as freely awarded. These are government agencies, think about the economic messages they are trying to send out in approving or disallowing claims. Right now, I would say that benefits are being squeezed in both areas.
